MagFast Scam
The company did connect with me and provided a full refund for the MagFast investment I made in 2017. Keep in mind - the product is still NOT available and they pushed the delivery date again to Fall 2018.
Lesson learned on my part - I am NOT an early adopter. I cannot...
I do not want to see their cute little posts or movies or red carpet events that ask for more money and NO products in hand to deliver.
I want my product!!!
I plan to report to the BBB and have posted to as many sites as I can to try and get this issue seen.
Buyer Beware! There is NO money back on this - so basically I lost money and faith in what could have been a very nice product.
Preferred solution: Full refund
Product never arrived, non existent customer service
- Clearly their payment processor works well
- Seems like a complete scam
- No customer service whatsoever
Preferred solution: Full refund
Love the thing chargers but...............!
Not as I hoped
- Overall appearance
- Failure of lightening tips
- And unable to use with ipad2 as planned
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution

Verified ReviewerFantastic product!
I invested in their latest "package" that had all the bells and whistles
Love them. Gave at least a dozen to friends, family, stylist.
In the end, I am saddened and disappointed.
They've moved on and are now launching Magfast
Thingcharger was a slick marketing and crowdfunding campaign that separated a lot of people from almost a million dollars (including about $135 of mine). Many people never got their orders - I did get my four, but the company disappeared with a *poof* shortly thereafter, making it impossible to get new charging tips for my new devices, and rendering our Thingchargers into expensive door-stops.
But wait! There's more! Amy and Seymour Segnit are at it again - new name trademarked (Magfast), very similar concept and product, crowdfunding again, and no doubt set to rake in more big money and then not support their product line. I am not a lawyer - I have no idea how to stop them.
Hoping someone 'out there' does. Because I am pissed off.
Did not receive product
ThingCHARGER morphs into magFAST
Beware, folks. ThingCHARGER went belly up and then resurrected as magFAST.
The thingCHARGER has been re-designed, some magnetic attachments have been added and voila! A new company is born. Like the original thingCHARGER, you can crowdfund Amy and Seymour Segnit again. The new magFAST crowdfunding project believes it will ship in about a year.
That's right folks, if you "buy" magFAST, you have no right to a refund because, well, you're crowdfunding. You have no guarantee that you'll ever, ever receive anything. And, even if you receive this hoped-for invention, it will be over a year before you see it. But don't worry, magFAST is a green company.
They'll plant trees every time someone crowdfunds them. Where did they get all this land for all these trees? Will anyone ever water them?
Why are they spending crowdfunds on anything besides development costs? The catch phrase is "change chargers for GOOD." I'd say it's better to "run away for your own GOOD."
I sent my money, received no product and no refund
MAGFAST: I just wanted to update the fact that Thingcharger has rebranded itself as some new venture called Magfast. They are inundating me nearly daily with more promotional hype. They are NOT responding to any of my communications and pesumably are never going to...
That was in December 2015. I started to email them, and was promised that shipment would be in May. Every email also offered a refund instead, and every time I replied, asking for a refund. But none ever came.
In July of 2016 (!) I got an email saying they were about to ship, just as we were preparing to make a cross-country move. I asked them to hold the package until we arrived. After we arrived in August, I sent them emails every week for months until they came up with this new "Magfast" program. No refund.
No product. Never again will I place faith in a startup or send money to a non-proven, untrusted company.
- Did not deliver product
- Never received the product ordered
- I never received the product
Preferred solution: Full refund
The Thing Charger
Amy & Seymour Segnit the founder of The Thing Charger should be ashamed of themselves. They claimed to be manufacturing what seemed to be a great product and foolish people such as myself believed them.
When it sound to good to be true is usually is. We reached out multiple times and were told I turn was coming and the chargers would be delivered and it's been over a year and nothing yet. Don't know if they are still in business but they deserve to be shut down and sued. Below is a response from them via email: Hello, Apologies that this is an automated response.
We have concluded the campaign for our Version 1 of thingCHARGER and our founders are now hard at work on developing the next generation of chargers. If you are a supporter of our Version 1 campaign and did not complete the checkout via the invitation we sent to you earlier this year, don’t worry. You have been automatically upgraded to our Version 2 model (and its better in every way!). As you know if you’ve been following the campaign, its a very long slow and hard journey to deliver great products.
Big companies with massive resources make it look easy, but we’ve shipped a 1/4 million units of something we invented at home and its a heavy lift.
Thank you so much for all of your encouragement and support in this project, we never could have made thingCHARGER a reality without you… and, trust us, you’re going to love your new improved gifts when we reach production. The Very Best, Amy & Seymour Segnit Founders
THINGCHARGER SCAMMED ME - lied, and left me holding the bag for $600. They are out of business now, laughing all the way to the bank.
