Confidence game

Tried contacting several times? I should have known it was fishy to g t a "it's ready, verify" your address and when within 48 hours i did, suddenly there were none. I had already paid. Where did they go? The backers were not protected...stock was not reserved for the. Shameful.

MagFast Scam

Updated by user Apr 26, 2018

The company did connect with me and provided a full refund for the MagFast investment I made in 2017. Keep in mind - the product is still NOT available and they pushed the delivery date again to Fall 2018.

Lesson learned on my part - I am NOT an early adopter. I cannot...

Original review Apr 23, 2018
I ordered the ThingCharger and was please with the product and turnaround. When they came out with their latest and greatest package it was impressive. A Thing for EveryThing!!! They TOOK 6 payments for a total of $804 in 2017. The promise was the products would ship my first quarter 2018. It is now the end of April and not only do I not have any products in hand - they are not responding to my questions and asks for a delivery timeframe.
I do not want to see their cute little posts or movies or red carpet events that ask for more money and NO products in hand to deliver.
I want my product!!!
I plan to report to the BBB and have posted to as many sites as I can to try and get this issue seen.
Buyer Beware! There is NO money back on this - so basically I lost money and faith in what could have been a very nice product.

Product never arrived, non existent customer service

They took my money, never sent me my product, and never responded to my inquiries. So I reported them to the Better Business Bureau. I know I will get my money back, but to wait 2 weeks for a product that alledgedly ships immediately is unacceptable, and to receive no updates as to order status, shipping status is highly suspect. Buyer beware! Do not purchase form this site. Had I done more investigating I would never have bought a product from this company, just google them and you will see many upset consumers, not to mention many broken links off their twitter pages, FB pages, etc, suggesting they have moved onto bigger and better things anbd have left their thingCharger consumers in the dust. DO NOT PURCHASE.

Love the thing chargers but...............!

I was one of the first to buy the thing chargers several years ago and bought a four pack bundle. Recently I purchased the Samsung Galaxy 9+cell phone and of course the connector is different! I need usb-c tips for my thing chargers now. I have written customer service three times to no avail. I am still waiting for a response. I like the chargers but need to have these new tips in order to use them. . I love the chargers but they are not usable without the usb-c tips. I am finding customer service very poor at this time. They are not inexpensive to buy but if I can't use them they surely aren't worth much to me. I did see that the new thing chargers come with this new tip so it shouldn't be a problem to get some. For now I would rate the customer service as one star at best.

I ordered four chargers last fall and they came promptly. Gave one away and still have one to give away. I wanted two, silly me. I had to order special the tip for my old iPad2, but the device just doesn't support the iPad. It won't stay up on the charger. My iPhone was charging on it fine until the lightening tip failed, as did TWO more. I've used them all. I cannot get any response from ThingCharger customer service to replace the lightening tips. However, my husband's Android phone is still charging on it fine. I use the USB ports, but still have messy cords for my iPad and Iphone so it didn't solve the problem I bought it for. I would love to hear from ThingCharger customer support.

I was also an early Kickstart investor, but had none of the problems others had. I bought several and use one regularly, and have given the others to family members. My daughter said she thought it was a great idea, but she's in a small house with few outlets, and the only really accessible one in the main part of the house isn't in a practical place or she would have happily kept it. (She's planning to move into a bigger place eventually and wants me to get one fort her then, which I'll be happy to do.) I also love it for travel, since you never know what you'll find for outlets at hotels or BnBs, and I don't have to worry about bringing extra charging cables because of the USB jacks. I know the original company really messed up, but the product itself is incredibly useful, and the company that's selling it now doesn't deserve to be blamed for the mistakes the first company made.

I invested in their latest "package" that had all the bells and whistles

My first experience was in December 2015. I ordered twice and received Thingchargers. They were great gifts. So why wouldn't I get excited about their package coming out? Many things happened in 2016 and I didn't keep track, expecting to receive more of the timely and excited emails about the Package coming. I even corresponded about questions regarding the color I would prefer. I haven't heard from them in quite awhile and thought I'd go the website to check what is going on. Well, no longer any website! I emailed to the last person that I was in contact with and hoping for some integrity in getting a response. Big disappointment. Great Learning. I still hope that they resolve their issues.

I was an early investor, having initially ordered three or four chargers. I waited a good 6 to 9 months and I finally heard from them that my order was being shipped. During the confirmation process I was given the offer of paying extra for the 2X models which I accepted and I even increased my order. In all, I received seven 2X thingchargers. They arrived and my entire household loved them. Several months later, I got an email from Seymour and his wife, Becky, stating they had a special trailer load and were offering them at a discounted price. I was happy to order eight of them for friends and family because they had worked so well for me. I waited and waited and waited and nothing came. I reached out several times via email and eventually realized the website itself had been taken down. In the end, I felt betrayed and I continue to feel this way whenever I use them.

Correction... Seymour's wife was Amy, not Becky.

Also, ever since this, I’ve made it my online passion to pass along negative comments about thingchargers. The amount of good press I would have passed along is nothing compared to the lifelong bad press I will pass along now that I’ve been burned by them. I will never stop saying bad things about them.

They've moved on and are now launching Magfast

Thingcharger was a slick marketing and crowdfunding campaign that separated a lot of people from almost a million dollars (including about $135 of mine). Many people never got their orders - I did get my four, but the company disappeared with a *poof* shortly thereafter, making it impossible to get new charging tips for my new devices, and rendering our Thingchargers into expensive door-stops.

But wait! There's more! Amy and Seymour Segnit are at it again - new name trademarked (Magfast), very similar concept and product, crowdfunding again, and no doubt set to rake in more big money and then not support their product line. I am not a lawyer - I have no idea how to stop them.

Hoping someone 'out there' does. Because I am pissed off.

ThingCHARGER morphs into magFAST

Beware, folks. ThingCHARGER went belly up and then resurrected as magFAST.

The thingCHARGER has been re-designed, some magnetic attachments have been added and voila! A new company is born. Like the original thingCHARGER, you can crowdfund Amy and Seymour Segnit again. The new magFAST crowdfunding project believes it will ship in about a year.

That's right folks, if you "buy" magFAST, you have no right to a refund because, well, you're crowdfunding. You have no guarantee that you'll ever, ever receive anything. And, even if you receive this hoped-for invention, it will be over a year before you see it. But don't worry, magFAST is a green company.

They'll plant trees every time someone crowdfunds them. Where did they get all this land for all these trees? Will anyone ever water them?

Why are they spending crowdfunds on anything besides development costs? The catch phrase is "change chargers for GOOD." I'd say it's better to "run away for your own GOOD."

I have four ThingChargers and love them. My only problem is that my iPad is quite wobbly when I put it right on the adapter, do I usually use my cable.

I love that I can keep multiple cables plugged in and ready to use at any time. The Magfast looks like it has some great new features, but I’ll wait until it hits the market.

Ordered and paid for 3 thingchargers and got.......zip. Buyer beware Magfast might leave you feeling blue rather than green,

Guest

I purchased thingcharger when it was first advertised and ended up buying four of them and having to buy iPhone tips separately all have gone bad. Which leaves my thingchargers vertually useless.

I tried contacting the company with no success so far. I need new iPhone adapters. I'm now using the USB ports with cable that came with my phone.

Now magfast is the new company and they want people to crowd fund them. They're not getting anymore of my money.

I can't tell what year these reviews are from since there is only a date. We eventually did receive the 3 ThingChargers that we ordered and they work as expected. There are definitely many bad reviews about when people expected to see their product arrive!

MAGFAST: I just wanted to update the fact that Thingcharger has rebranded itself as some new venture called Magfast. They are inundating me nearly daily with more promotional hype. They are NOT responding to any of my communications and pesumably are never going to...

Original review Apr 21, 2017
I had to check that I didn't write the previous review! I sent them over $200 for the 7-thing package, thinking it would make great Christmas presents for my family.

That was in December 2015. I started to email them, and was promised that shipment would be in May. Every email also offered a refund instead, and every time I replied, asking for a refund. But none ever came.

In July of 2016 (!) I got an email saying they were about to ship, just as we were preparing to make a cross-country move. I asked them to hold the package until we arrived. After we arrived in August, I sent them emails every week for months until they came up with this new "Magfast" program. No refund.

No product. Never again will I place faith in a startup or send money to a non-proven, untrusted company.

The Thing Charger

Amy & Seymour Segnit the founder of The Thing Charger should be ashamed of themselves. They claimed to be manufacturing what seemed to be a great product and foolish people such as myself believed them.

When it sound to good to be true is usually is. We reached out multiple times and were told I turn was coming and the chargers would be delivered and it's been over a year and nothing yet. Don't know if they are still in business but they deserve to be shut down and sued. Below is a response from them via email: Hello, Apologies that this is an automated response.

We have concluded the campaign for our Version 1 of thingCHARGER and our founders are now hard at work on developing the next generation of chargers. If you are a supporter of our Version 1 campaign and did not complete the checkout via the invitation we sent to you earlier this year, don’t worry. You have been automatically upgraded to our Version 2 model (and its better in every way!). As you know if you’ve been following the campaign, its a very long slow and hard journey to deliver great products.

Big companies with massive resources make it look easy, but we’ve shipped a 1/4 million units of something we invented at home and its a heavy lift.

Thank you so much for all of your encouragement and support in this project, we never could have made thingCHARGER a reality without you… and, trust us, you’re going to love your new improved gifts when we reach production. The Very Best, Amy & Seymour Segnit Founders

THINGCHARGER SCAMMED ME - lied, and left me holding the bag for $600. They are out of business now, laughing all the way to the bank.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Thingcharger.com lied to me repeatedly since December 2015 - telling me 3 times that it was about to send my product, then never did. Last they repeatedly failed to reply to me, until I threatened to sue them AND make sure their abysmal custyomer service was prominently blogged about and posted on all social media outlets. That finally got their attention. Their disinterested, response: Allegedly, since summer 2016, they can't send me my product because "they've been so successful that they just got a contract with Apple, and Apple is making them re-design to their specs, and they'll be selling them on Apple's website by Christmas, and in the meantime, we're not allowed to sell any product with apple parts until we launch with Apple. At that point, we'll be supplying Apple first for NEW orders (not existing) and we hope to get you yours by sometime late spring 2017." UPDATE: I just checked again, and not only did they lie about the Apple contract, but THEY ARE NOW OUT OF BUSINESS, so I am completely OUT of the $600 I paid for a bunch of thingchargers. And YOU can take credit for lulling people into a false sense of security with your *** about "just give them a chance". I didn't follow up in the fall because of your passionate entreaty, and that gave them a chance to fold without ever addressing the money and/or product they owed me. THANKS!!!!! Just so you know, the company now selling their product is the actual manufacturer, and that company is not responsible for making good on debts that Thingcharger incurred. I hope the Thingcharger people rot in ***. They were MAJOR scam artists, in the end.
